Woodbridge Orchestral Society

This year’s repertoire contains a variety of full scale orchestral works including symphonies by Mozart and Tchaikowski, a dramatic Verdi overture, shorter works by Elgar and Sibelius and a Beethoven ‘Romance’ showcasing solo violin.

The autumn’s work culminated in a December performance for friends of Tchaikowski’s ‘Little Russian’ Symphony, with its engaging fusion of Ukranian folk melody and the composer’s powerful orchestration. Those who came to listen enjoyed an unusual opportunity to observe an orchestra and its players at close quarters.  

The spring rehearsal programme has returned to the wider range of the year’s repertoire.
